About the Job

Secat, Inc., an aluminum testing and research laboratory, seeks a dynamic self-starter for the position of Materials Engineer.

Primary Duties

  • Conduct testing or analyze projects, which may be a part of a broader project, with general direction from higher classifications
  • Conduct a variety of tests or analyses using analytical instrumentation, simulation and data management systems, where established procedures and standards are sometimes lacking
  • Use skills in technical analysis and apply engineering and science theory as required to meet project objectives
  • Identify problems, seek solutions and make recommendations based on project objectives, target costs, program requirements, and other constraints
  • Set up, maintain, operate, and guide others in operations of test equipment operation, calibration, data collection, analysis, and preparation of test reports
  • Participate in data collection and analysis at customer facilities
  • Perform failure analysis

Minimum Qualifications

  • M.S. in Metallurgy/Materials Science and Engineering
  • A minimum of 2 years of related experience
  • Advanced technical and operational experience with laboratory and mechanical testing equipment (Scanning Electron Microscope, X-Ray Diffraction, Optical Microscopy, etc.)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
